Crime scene tape remained on the steps of Los Angeles City Hall in California on July 15, 2026. A person was discovered dead after reportedly jumping from the 26th floor of the building. This information comes from a review of an internal city message by The Times.

The Security Services Division of the Los Angeles Police Department reported the apparent suicide in a memo. Authorities arrived at the City Hall’s Spring Street steps around 4:30 p.m. and found the deceased individual. The investigation indicated that the person had jumped from the 26th floor tower.

A cellphone and a jacket located in the tower were believed to belong to the victim, as per the message. There was no immediate information available regarding the victim or the circumstances, though the memo noted no evidence of foul play. Security Services is managing the investigation.

The Security Services Division directed questions to the police. An LAPD spokesperson stated they had no further information.
