The Indiana Fever achieved a decisive victory against the Chicago Sky, winning 113-90 in a game that saw Caitlin Clark score an impressive 37 points, alongside Kelsey Mitchell’s 30 points.
Clark’s exceptional performance included making eight of Indiana’s franchise-record 18 three-pointers, complementing her 10 assists. This victory capped off a demanding five-game trip for the Fever, who managed to secure three wins despite a two-game losing streak prior to this match.
For Chicago, Natasha Cloud contributed 16 points and seven assists. The team’s three-game winning streak came to an end with this defeat, as did their playoff hopes with the loss and Washington’s victory on Sunday.
Notably absent from the Fever lineup was center Aliyah Boston, who missed the game due to a right leg injury. Boston had been a key player in the recent 109-102 loss to New York with 22 points and six assists.
Indiana seized control of the game with a critical 13-2 run, taking a commanding 71-60 lead in the third quarter. Clark initiated the run, supported by Mitchell’s eight consecutive points, and concluded with Clark’s jumper.
Lexie Hull made a significant impact with a reverse layup, pushing the lead to 97-82, contributing 14 points overall, with Makayla Timpson adding 12 points.
The game marked the teams’ first encounter since an incident in the August 8 match where Indiana’s Sophie Cunningham was fouled by DiJonai Carrington. Cunningham played over 11 minutes, scoring three points, while Carrington tallied seven points in 18 minutes.
Former NBA players Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White were notable attendees. Freedom was ejected in the third quarter following a confrontation with Cloud. Both Freedom and White have announced their eligibility for the WNBA draft, identifying as women.
In upcoming games, the Fever will host the Connecticut Sun on Friday night, and the Sky will visit Connecticut on Tuesday night.
