The FBI is investigating a deadly shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego, carried out by two teenagers on Monday. The attack, which left three people dead, was driven by hate-filled rhetoric targeting multiple groups.

According to a manifesto obtained by CBS News, the attackers blamed Jews for global problems and expressed hate towards Muslims, women, Hispanic, gay, and transgender communities. Mark Remily, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s San Diego Field Office, stated, “These subjects did not discriminate in who they hated.” The document begins with antisemitic statements and calls for a violent race war, aligning with the ideology known as “accelerationism,” which supports societal destruction.

The teens broadcasted their attack live, drawing parallels to the 2019 Christchurch mosque shooting that resulted in 51 deaths. The video showed them wearing Nazi symbols and having “Race War” etched on one of their firearms. Oren Segal of the Anti-Defamation League mentioned that the attackers saw themselves as successors to the Christchurch shooter.

The manifesto features extensive rants against Blacks, Muslims, Hispanics, and transgender individuals. It also includes misogynistic vitriol linked to the incel movement, known for previous mass shootings. The manifesto, 75 pages in length, seems to compile writings from the internet, possibly aided by AI.

Authorities believe the teens, Cain Clark, 17, and Caleb Vazquez, 18, met online before discovering they lived in the same area. A suicide note left by Clark indicated his willingness to die for their cause. Investigators are exploring evidence that the teens were inspired by past mass shooters, including the Christchurch attacker.

The teens documented their attack online in a 10-minute video uploaded to a platform known for glorifying mass shooters. This platform is part of what is known as the “True Crime Community,” a movement that praises such violent acts.

During the attack, the teens killed a security guard who protected others, then entered the mosque housing a school with over 100 children. The guard had activated a lockdown, saving many. The teens also targeted two men in the parking lot before fleeing and ending their lives a short distance away.

The tragedy unfolded after a warning call from Clark’s mother to 911, where she expressed concerns about her son’s behavior and missing weapons. Despite the alert, the attack took place two hours later, claiming the lives of three individuals, including hero guard Amin Abdullah.
