North Carolina Clerk’s Murder Investigation

In North Carolina, a separate tragic event unfolded. Robin Doyle, a 58-year-old gas station clerk, was reported missing on July 28. She was last seen by a family member the day before.

The discovery of Doyle’s body in a northeastern Catawba County wooded area led to the arrest of Leroy Allen Loper. Loper, 54, faces charges including felony murder, first-degree kidnapping, and concealment of death. Authorities noted his history as a registered sex offender with prior violent felony convictions.

Following the arrest, Catawba County Sheriff Don Brown expressed condolences to Doyle’s family. “We are deeply saddened for Robin Doyle’s family as they endure an unimaginable loss,” he stated. “While today’s charges mark a step in the investigation, they cannot undo the pain suffered. We will pursue justice fully.”

Doyle was cherished by those who knew her. Colleagues and community members remembered her as a kind and generous presence at the Propst Superette, where she worked. A tribute on the store read, “Robin, the world wasn’t ready for you to leave, but heaven needed you home.”
