Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett expressed gratitude to passengers and crew after they prevented a potential disaster on a flight to Israel. Passengers intervened when a co-pilot allegedly attacked the pilot, causing the plane to nosedive.
Bennett told “The Faulkner Focus,” “This wasn’t a miracle, it was an act of heroism by the passengers and the Emirati crew. It’s people who saved the day, people who showed courage.”
The flight had to divert to Saudi Arabia, where passengers were shifted to another plane. Bennett thanked Saudi authorities for enabling the emergency landing and for taking care of the passengers on the ground.
The incident occurred on a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv. Israeli citizens on board acted quickly to subdue the co-pilot and regain control of the aircraft. The pilot, injured in the attack, was seen in graphic footage wearing an oxygen mask.
Saudi Arabia’s Tabuk Airport confirmed that both pilots were hospitalized. Israeli authorities are investigating whether this was an attempted terrorist act.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised those who intervened, stating they saved many lives. The pilot involved in the attack has been arrested and questioned by Saudi authorities.
