Former CIA Director John Brennan has received a subpoena to appear before a Florida grand jury. This is part of a Justice Department probe into allegations that former law enforcement and intelligence officials conspired against former President Donald Trump.
Ken Wainstein, Brennan’s attorney, revealed in a court filing that the subpoena requires Brennan to testify on October 15 in Fort Pierce, Florida. The investigation is reportedly looking into whether government officials conspired to violate Trump’s civil rights over the past decade.
“John Solomon predicts Brennan indictment could come within ‘weeks’ as prosecutors request official transcripts,” said Fox News.
Brennan, known for his critical stance on Trump during the Obama administration, also remains a target in a separate Washington investigation over allegations that he lied to Congress in 2023. Brennan and his lawyers have denied these claims.
This development occurs amid major changes in the leadership of the probe. Joseph diGenova, the prosecutor heading the ‘grand conspiracy’ investigation, resigned recently. The Justice Department has not yet named his replacement. Kurt Olsen, part of the investigative team and a lawyer who previously supported Trump’s 2020 election claims, is involved in ongoing discussions.
In addition to the grand jury subpoena, Brennan seeks a court order to retain all records regarding the investigations against him. He argues that these documents are vital for contesting any indictment that may arise on grounds of vindictive prosecution.
