Authorities have identified the body of a missing flight attendant, Rana Nofal Soluri, found in a Texas creek. Her roommate has been charged with her murder after DNA testing confirmed the identity.
Soluri, 47, was discovered on June 13 by a fisherman near Brushy Creek in Montague County, approximately 70 miles northwest of Fort Worth. Police and local reports confirm the remains were identified at the University of North Texas Health’s Center for Human Identification.
Soluri, an employee of Envoy Air, owned by American Airlines, was missing since March 2025. She took time off for a minor operation and was to return to work on March 31, 2025. A co-worker reported her missing on June 11, 2025, after her absence and unavailability raised concerns.
Dennis Day, 67, Soluri’s former roommate, was arrested in June 2025 and charged with murder. According to reports, Day admitted to strangling Soluri during a dispute. After the incident, he transported her body roughly 70 miles and disposed of it over a bridge.
Home surveillance footage from Day’s residence shows him moving what appears to be Soluri’s lifeless body into the backyard on March 21, 2025. Police incidents reveal an unintentional call captured Day’s plea for assistance in moving the body.
Joni Thomas, also known as Joanne Walters, 63, faces charges for tampering with evidence. Police allege her involvement in disposing of Soluri’s body. Both cases await resolution.
Before DNA confirmed Soluri’s identity, Day boasted to inmates that without a recovered body, conviction was unlikely. This was noted by the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.
A GoFundMe page for Soluri’s daughter, Lulu, details the transportation of her mother’s remains to Seattle for a Muslim burial on Sept. 29. The page mentions Lulu’s intent to attend a Texas court hearing to make a statement.
The community continues to support Lulu during this challenging period. She expressed gratitude for this support while navigating the legal process.
