Michelle Hadley and Ian Diaz started dating in 2013 after meeting online. They purchased a condominium together in Anaheim, California, but separated in 2015 due to disagreements over the property and financial matters. In early 2016, Ian Diaz married Angela Connell, who took his last name, Diaz. She moved into the property previously shared with Hadley. Angela Diaz then accused Hadley of harassment and creating “rape fantasy” ads featuring her.
