FBI Confiscates Former Congressman Eric Swalwell’s Devices Amid Sexual Misconduct Probe

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recently confiscated electronic devices from former congressman Eric Swalwell at San Francisco International Airport. This action, confirmed by two sources to Fox News Digital, occurred on a Saturday night. The following day, Swalwell’s Washington, D.C. home was searched. The seized items included at least one cell phone and are linked to an investigation into sexual misconduct. Despite these developments, Swalwell was not detained or arrested.

Swalwell’s attorney has been approached by Fox News Digital for comments. Amid these issues, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has initiated an investigation into allegations of sexual assault against him.

Eric Swalwell, a former Democratic congressman from California, faced significant allegations, leading to his resignation in April. Before stepping down, he encountered threats of expulsion from Congress. During his 13-year tenure, at least five women, including a former staff member, accused him of various acts of sexual misconduct or rape.

Following these allegations, Swalwell ended his campaign for California’s governorship. At a news conference in Beverly Hills, Lonna Drewes, among others, detailed accusations against Swalwell. Public identification of individuals alleging sexual assault is generally avoided unless they do so themselves.

Swalwell declared he would contest the allegations, although he acknowledged past mistakes. Furthermore, public interest in Swalwell resurfaced after the White House released declassified documents tied to an FBI investigation into his relationship with Christine “Fang Fang” Fang, allegedly a Chinese intelligence operative. Swalwell reportedly admitted to having physical relations with Fang on several occasions. Their final encounter took place in March 2015 according to FBI records released by the White House’s Government Transparency Task Force.

Fang, believed to have ties to China’s Ministry of State Security, reportedly had parents involved in Chinese intelligence operations. The FBI initially questioned Swalwell regarding his connection with Fang in May 2015 and again in March 2016.
