During his conversation on “The Will Cain Show,” Metcalf accused some commentators of using his son’s death for publicity purposes. He criticized the media, saying, “They’re looking for their 15 minutes of fame.” His comments followed the release of police body camera footage showing Anthony admitting to the crime during his arrest.

Metcalf reacted to “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin’s remarks questioning why Anthony’s actions were not deemed self-defense. Metcalf stated that such opinions are unfounded, urging individuals unfamiliar with the case to refrain from public commentary.

The trial became a national discussion, focusing on Anthony’s self-defense claim and the racial implications. Earlier this month, Anthony received a 35-year sentence after being convicted of first-degree murder. Metcalf disapproved of the racial dimension injected into the case, emphasizing the importance of character over race.
