The Attack and the Investigation

The shooting occurred on a busy Saturday afternoon in a shopping plaza. Police are still investigating the motive behind Williams’ actions. A search of court records in Idaho and Arizona yielded no criminal cases associated with his name and birth date.

Chad Williams: A Former Dorm Resident’s Perspective

Elijah Moseley, who lived in a dorm with Williams at the College of Southern Idaho a few years ago, described him as an introverted and calm individual. Moseley, though shocked and disturbed by the news, had considered Williams a relatively close friend, though they had lost touch over time.

Victims and Community’s Response

A vigil will be held at Twin Falls City Park to honor the victims. An In-N-Out employee was among the deceased. The fast-food chain’s owner, Lynsi Snyder, confirmed the employee’s death, though not her identity. Kimberly Castaneda identified her brother, Christopher Claunch, as one of the victims. Friends remembered Claunch, known as “Toph,” for his dedication to helping people overcome alcohol abuse.

Two victims were treated and released, while others remain hospitalized. During the attack, an off-duty state trooper and a civilian drew gunfire from Williams, diverting him. The names of victims and the individuals who intervened have not been disclosed by the police yet.

Austin ‘A.J.’ Scott and Terry Dudley

Marcus Scott wrote on Facebook about his son, Austin Scott, who was critically injured while trying to protect others. Austin Scott previously served as a law enforcement officer. Terry Dudley, a taxi driver, was shot while charging a company car. His friend and employer, James Palmer, described the chaos and Dudley’s significant injuries.

Chad Williams’ Background

Williams attended the College of Southern Idaho but did not graduate. He was once part of the student senate but was removed due to lack of engagement. His impeachment occurred in February 2023, according to Moseley, who then served as senate pro-tempore.

This incident highlights the shocking and unpredictable nature of such events. Police continue their investigation with full cooperation from Williams’ family.
