A 56-year-old man was found dead Thursday night following an attack by at least one dog in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, according to authorities. The incident occurred around 8:50 p.m. outside a home located in the 2000 block of West 47th Street, as reported by Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
An autopsy conducted on Friday revealed that the man succumbed to “multiple injuries” resulting from “dog mauling.” His death has been classified as accidental. As of Friday afternoon, the man’s residential address remained unknown and efforts to reach his family were unsuccessful.
The precise number of dogs involved in the attack is still undetermined. The Chicago Police Department has confirmed that detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
