Family Claims School Impeded Investigation

Duvel Brown and Lakeia Miller, parents of Kuvel Brown, an 8-year-old student, assert that staff at a D.C. elementary school hindered their participation in an inquiry concerning an incident involving their son.

Miller recalls an experience two years earlier, while employed at a Dollar General. She received a call from her son’s school principal, who informed her about an incident. According to the principal, a teacher had allegedly struck her son in the face. Miller was told that “the situation was being taken care of.”

The incident took place when her son was six years old. Since then, the family has been seeking clarity and resolution. They have expressed dissatisfaction with how the school handled their concerns, feeling their involvement was obstructed.

Brown and Miller emphasize the importance of transparency in handling such allegations. They believe parents should be actively involved in any school investigation concerning their children.
