Eight individuals, including two children, sustained gunshot wounds during a shooting in Coney Island on Saturday night. The incident occurred as large crowds gathered for a Fourth of July fireworks display. The police reported the shooting at 2929 West 31st Street in Brooklyn, close to the Coney Island boardwalk, at 10:37 p.m.

Officers responded to a 911 call shortly after the fireworks began at 10 p.m. Upon arrival, they found victims aged between six and 37. A 21-year-old woman was among the victims, having been shot in the chest. She was in critical condition on Sunday.

The gunfire wounded four boys, with ages six, seven, 12, and 14. The six-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen, while the seven-year-old was shot in both legs. Despite these injuries, all the victims are expected to recover.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear. The police have not identified a suspect or made any arrests related to the incident.
