Democrats have breathed a sigh of relief following the closely contested gubernatorial primary in Wisconsin. The state is known for races that often come down to the wire. The recent Democratic primary proved no different.

Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley emerged victorious against opponent Francesca Hong. Crowley secured the Democratic nomination by approximately 3,800 votes out of a total of 792,000 cast. In polls taken two weeks prior to the election, Hong held a lead of more than 20 percentage points. However, support shifted as mainstream Democrats united behind Crowley, the candidate perceived as more electable.

Wisconsin voters played a crucial role in the Democrats’ efforts to present a more moderate platform. This shift marked a significant turn as the party continues to navigate internal divides and broader voter expectations.
