A seasoned Democratic attorney has voiced strong opposition to Michigan’s new Democratic Senate candidate, Abdul El-Sayed, and is endorsing Mike Rogers, the Republican contender. Julian Epstein, who was the chief legal counsel for House Democrats during the Clinton impeachment and later represented Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid, expressed his stance in a New York Post op-ed.

In a conversation with Fox News Digital, Epstein revealed that his op-ed signifies his departure from supporting the Democratic Party in this highly competitive Senate contest.

“The Democrats have gone off the deep end,” Epstein declared. “I think the lunatics are in charge of the asylum. There is no room in the tent for people who want to destroy our Constitution, align with radical Islam, or support antisemitism.”

He also criticized those within the party focused on wealth redistribution over building future opportunities, accusing them of undermining the free market.

Epstein warned that the party is self-destructive with its current policies, anticipating a future defection by many Democrats. He has long critiqued the party for drifting too far left, arguing they have lost their moral compass.

Praised for his moderate stance, Rogers is described by Epstein as a practical candidate who would have fit well within Democratic ideals during the Clinton era.

El-Sayed narrowly defeated Michigan Rep. Haley Stevens in the primary, a candidate known for progressive views and support for Israel. Despite this victory, it remains uncertain if Stevens’ supporters will back El-Sayed in the general elections.

**Epstein’s op-ed** suggests Rogers could effectively challenge El-Sayed’s platform, criticizing El-Sayed’s alleged sympathies with Mideastern terrorist movements and comments on wealth generation. Epstein also criticized Hasan Piker, a campaign surrogate for El-Sayed, for controversial views.

Epstein’s critique serves as a stark warning to Democrats to address what he terms escalating “lunacy” within the party.
