Defense Attorney Responds to Criticism Over Jury Inquiry Motions

PLYMOUTH, Mass. — Defense attorney Kevin Reddington has defended his actions following criticism from the attorney of the lone juror who advocated for convicting Lindsay Clancy. This juror’s lawyer, Edward Paltzik, claimed Reddington’s motions threaten the U.S. Constitution.

Reddington responded, “I think Ed ought to learn how to go into the courtroom and articulate his position rather than be a histrionic individual that’s just mouthing off for the media.” He emphasized that his motions are justified, based on law and facts, as part of his representation of Lindsay Clancy.

Paltzik previously stated that Reddington’s inquiry into the holdout juror is an “attack on the U.S. Constitution” and a danger to the Sixth Amendment rights of criminal defendants. Reddington rebutted, noting that every motion filed is lawful and factual.

“It’s all based on sound, law, facts, jury questions, and I’m doing what I should do, representing Lindsay,” Reddington asserted to Fox News Digital.

During an interview with a YouTuber, Ray Marcel, Paltzik called for Clancy’s execution despite her not being convicted and Massachusetts not imposing the death penalty. Paltzik also labeled Reddington’s inquiries as inappropriate and a misuse of legal proceedings.

Paltzik accused Reddington of criticizing a juror and filing post-trial motions unjustly. He stated, “My issue with Kevin Reddington is what happened after the mistrial when he got on the courthouse steps. He said Michael had an agenda.” Paltzik added that Reddington should not have denounced the juror, emphasizing, “I would never criticize a juror.”

Tensions rose when Paltzik defended his former statements and Reddington questioned the narrative labeling juror Michael Desronvil as “the lone holdout juror.” Reddington described him as “the obstructionist juror,” due to his refusal to convict Clancy of insanity despite admitting reasonable doubt.

Eleven jurors favored finding Clancy not guilty by reason of mental disease, aligning with the defense that Clancy suffered from postpartum psychosis. Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial following a deadlock and ordered further legal proceedings.

Clancy had allegedly strangled her three children in Duxbury, Massachusetts, using resistance bands, followed by a suicide attempt causing partial paralysis. Her defense continues to request an investigation into Desronvil, citing potential bias or misconduct.

Attorney Martin Weinberg has further argued against the charges, suggesting double jeopardy issues. He criticized the court’s handling of juror instructions and decision to declare a mistrial. Weinberg claims the holdout’s failure to follow instructions undermined the trial’s integrity.
