An alleged incident on a Carnival cruise ship led to the arrest of David Lawrence Crosby II, 44, from Surrency, Georgia. He faces charges of child abuse after allegedly attacking two children on board.

The incident reportedly occurred on July 26, while the ship Carnival Glory was en route from Port Canaveral, Florida, to the Bahamas. Crosby allegedly ran into a group of children playing tag in a hallway.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Crosby is accused of hitting a child in the face, resulting in a bloody lip and head pain. He allegedly struck another child in the stomach. The cruise line’s security cameras reportedly recorded the entire event.

“Our security team responded immediately to an incident involving an intoxicated guest aboard Carnival Glory on July 26,” a Carnival spokesperson stated, emphasizing the immediate response by their team.

Crosby told officers he was “heavily intoxicated” at the time and did not recall hitting the children. Following his arrest by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, he was confined to his cabin for the rest of the journey. On arrival at Port Canaveral, authorities took him into custody. Crosby also faces a violation fee and has been placed on Carnival’s Do Not Sail list.

Crosby was released from jail after posting a bond of $20,000—$10,000 for each count of child abuse. He pleaded not guilty in court and is set to be arraigned on August 25.

Carnival Glory is the same ship involved in the incident, having been docked at the Port of Miami as documented in 2014. As of December 21, 2023, the ship was notably in Cozumel, Mexico.

Attempts to obtain additional comments from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and Crosby’s related business were unproductive. His business connection reported closure due to a “family emergency” on the day of Crosby’s release.
