Criticism of Patrick Clancy’s ’60 Minutes’ Interview

Lindsay Clancy’s childhood friend, Brittany Romano, criticized Patrick Clancy’s recent appearance on 60 Minutes as a missed opportunity. Romano argued that the interview did not address key questions and failed to highlight the issues of postpartum psychosis and mental health.

Patrick Clancy’s Interview Focus

During the interview, Patrick Clancy discussed his grief, his process of forgiveness, and the lasting impact of losing his three children. He stressed that his ex-wife’s actions stemmed from severe mental illness rather than malice. Clancy expressed distress over headlines labeling his ex-wife as a ‘killer mom’ and ‘baby murderer monster,’ stating they were inaccurate.

He shared personal struggles, including suicidal thoughts and a severe panic attack during his testimony. Clancy lamented the online conspiracy theories, stating that they harm his children’s legacy and distract from what should be the core focus: awareness of postpartum mental illness.

Romano’s Concerns About the Interview

Romano noted that essential questions were overlooked. She felt the interview did not adequately address topics like the malpractice lawsuit, the timeline of events, or the reasons behind Patrick Clancy’s interview timing. Romano emphasized that the interview did little to highlight postpartum mental health issues, suggesting Clancy himself might not fully understand them.

Rachel Danis’ Role in the Interview

Patrick Clancy was joined by his new wife, Rachel Danis, who called him a selfless father and supportive partner. The couple announced their expectancy of a baby and expressed their intention to honor his deceased children.

Romano questioned Danis’ presence, whether she provided moral support or showcased humanity. She found the pregnancy announcement somewhat misplaced. Despite her critiques, Romano recognized Danis as a person and sympathized with any advice she received to appear.

Future of the Lindsay Clancy Case

The case ended in a mistrial this month due to jury indecision. A status hearing is set for September 29, 2026, to determine further action. Whether Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz will pursue a new trial remains uncertain. Defense attorney Kevin Reddington plans to oppose a retrial, citing double-jeopardy concerns.
