Cristiano Ronaldo silenced critics with a standout performance against Uzbekistan, who currently stand at 58th in the FIFA rankings. The Portuguese superstar has now achieved the unique feat of scoring in six different World Cup tournaments.
World Cup Recap
Ronaldo made history by scoring two goals in Portugal’s commanding 5-0 victory over Uzbekistan. This achievement makes him the first player to score in six World Cups. The 41-year-old found the net with a right-footed shot from João Cancelo’s cross, followed by a goal facilitated by Bruno Fernandes, taking the score to 3-0. Ronaldo also stands as the second-oldest World Cup goal-scorer, following Cameroon’s Roger Milla, who was 42 years old at the 1994 event in the U.S.
Both Ronaldo and Argentina’s Lionel Messi have played in six World Cups, but Ronaldo began his streak in 2006. Messi did not score during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
On the same day, England settled for a 0-0 draw with Ghana, and Croatia secured a 1-0 win over Panama. Colombia defeated the Democratic Republic of the Congo 1-0 in other tournament matches.
World Cup Preview
Scotland’s fans moved to Miami, leaving Boston behind for a matchup against Brazil, a five-time World Cup winner. With one win against Haiti under their belt and a narrow loss to Morocco, Scotland aims to advance past the group stage after numerous past exits.
Brazil, led by manager Carlo Ancelotti, showed improvement by defeating Haiti 3-0 after drawing 1-1 against Morocco. Neymar, 34, is anticipated to return from injury for this crucial game.
