Friday marks the deadline for Congress to decide on the reauthorization of a significant foreign intelligence collection tool. This provision falls under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which has faced criticism from both sides of the political spectrum. Critics argue that FISA is susceptible to misuse.

Some lawmakers are refusing to support the reauthorization unless President Trump withdraws his nominee for overseeing the intelligence community. Amna Nawaz of PBS News Hour spoke with Republican Representative Mike McCaul from Texas to discuss the implications and concerns surrounding this legislative decision.
