Chris Hemsworth’s recent family vacation became tense when he encountered a lightning storm while onboard a small plane. The well-known actor, aged 42, documented his trip to Costa Rica with his wife Elsa Pataky and their three children in a YouTube vlog. One segment of the vlog highlighted a particularly perilous plane ride.
During the flight, flashes of lightning filled the sky around the aircraft, and turbulence rattled the cabin. Hemsworth’s discomfort was clear as he mouthed, “What the f—?” The video description referred to it as a “crazy plane ride.”

Despite the scare, the flight ended safely. This allowed Hemsworth and his family to continue enjoying their holiday. The trip included a variety of activities, such as surfing, ATV rides, cliff jumping, fishing, and hiking through waterfalls. At one moment, Pataky playfully pushed Hemsworth into a waterfall.
The couple, married since 2010, have a daughter named India and twin sons, Sasha and Tristan. They often engage in adventurous activities together, sharing moments from their home in Australia and during travels.

The vacation occurred years after Hemsworth publicly discussed reevaluating his priorities following a health insight during the filming of National Geographic’s “Limitless.” Genetic testing for the series revealed he has two copies of the APOE4 gene, linked to a heightened risk of Alzheimer’s.
After revealing this information in 2022, he briefly stepped back from acting. This led to false rumors about his retirement or supposed illness, which Hemsworth found upsetting. “It really kind of p—ed me off because it felt like I had been vulnerable with something personal and shared this,” he expressed in a 2024 Vanity Fair interview.
He added humor, recalling a comment he read: “I hope Chris forgets he’s retiring and comes back.”
