Singer Celine Dion made a triumphant return to the stage on Saturday during her ‘Celine Dion Paris 2026’ residency at the Plenitude Arena in Nanterre, near Paris. This performance marked nearly four years since she publicly revealed her health battle with a rare and painful condition.

Dion, who hails from Canada, began the 16-show residency with the French song “On Ne Change Pas,” which translates to “we don’t change” in English. Emotional after the opening song, she expressed her gratitude to the audience. “I had promised myself not to cry,” Dion shared with the crowd, according to Variety. She thanked everyone for attending and expressed her excitement about performing live again, encouraging first-time visitors to fall in love with Paris as she had.

Online videos captured Dion wearing a black dress and her hair styled in a bun, performing hits like “Because You Loved Me” and “Power of Love.” She also sang “My Heart Will Go On,” from the “Titanic” movie soundtrack, further thrilling the audience.

Hours before the concert, Dion shared her enthusiasm on her Instagram Story. She posted a photo of herself smiling with her hands raised, accompanied by the message “En route!”

A Quebec native, Dion is beloved in France and her concerts have sold out. These performances are expected to generate millions for the local region. The Grammy award-winning singer disclosed in 2022 that she had been diagnosed with stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder leading to stiff limbs and severe muscle spasms. Dion explained that the condition had impacted all aspects of her life, affecting her ability to walk and use her vocal cords in her traditional manner.

Her previous tour in 2020 was interrupted due to the Covid-19 pandemic. She last performed in July 2024 at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, marking another significant public appearance in the city.
