On August 4, 2026, a TikTok live video featuring celebrity blogger Perez Hilton reportedly harming himself at his Miami residence led to immediate reactions from the local community. Concerned viewers contacted the police, resulting in the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office responding to the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office informed Newsweek that they received multiple reports of a person livestreaming self-harming actions. Officers reached Hilton’s home and spoke to family members present. Hilton was confirmed to be alone inside. The deputies opted for a strategy of ‘tactical disengagement’ as they closely monitor the situation.

“In numerous cases involving individuals in mental health crises or self-harm, deputies focus on de-escalation by establishing time, space, and ways to communicate. If there isn’t an immediate risk to others, slowing down the situation and using crisis intervention methods can lower the chances of a ‘suicide-by-cop’ incident and minimize harm to all involved,” the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office explained to Newsweek.

Although representatives for Hilton were contacted by Newsweek, a reply was not received before the article’s publication.

The video, which Newsweek decided not to publish, depicted Hilton engaging in self-harm and appearing bloodied. TikTok has since removed the content and suspended Hilton’s account. It remains unknown who else might have been at home during the video recording. Hilton, a father of three, has an older son born in 2013 and daughters born in 2015 and 2017.

Earlier incidents saw Hilton hospitalized twice this year. Initially, he was treated for an ulcer caused by taking flu medication on an empty stomach, which progressed to severe sepsis. Later, he was admitted again for deep vein thrombosis, necessitating the removal of a blood clot from his leg.

Hilton addressed his audience in another post, announcing he would begin reading the Bible and attributed his survival to divine intervention.

“[God] performed an act that I can only describe as a miracle. For years, I’ve reached out to God, opened my heart, and now I recognize without doubt that God exists and loves me,” Hilton shared in the post.
