Cedric Alexander Retains X Division Championship at Slammiversary

Cedric Alexander’s first defense of his Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) X Division Championship happened at Slammiversary, held on Sunday night. He faced the challenge of retaining his title in the Ultimate X match.

The match marked the 55th Ultimate X event in TNA history. Alexander competed against Amazing Red, Frankie Kazarian, Fabian Aichner, Leon Slater, KC Navarro, and Mr. Elegance. This appearance was notable for Amazing Red, marking his return to a TNA ring after approximately 15 years.

Victory required competitors to ascend pillars, maneuver across cables above the ring, and secure the championship belt. During the match, Alexander, Kazarian, Red, and Aichner simultaneously made attempts to access the belt. A slip from Alexander led to Aichner’s fall and both Red and Kazarian also descended to the mat.

This created an opportunity for Red and Kazarian to display their remaining prowess. Mr. Elegance attempted to exploit the absence of competitors from the ring, but Navarro thwarted his efforts.

Amazing Red faced off against Navarro, delivering a ‘Code Red.’ He executed a similar move on Kazarian. While Red aimed to claim the title, Slater intercepted him.

Leon Slater gathered momentum despite facing barriers to the title. He performed a double blockbuster to eliminate Aichner, Elegance, Kazarian, and Navarro, then raced against Red toward the championship belt along the cables.

Slater managed to unhook the belt while both he and Red hung from the wires. However, Alexander intervened and grabbed the belt from Slater’s grasp.

Alexander was declared the winner since neither Slater nor Red had contact with the mat. This match marked Alexander’s retention of the X Division Championship, a title he initially secured from Slater, halting Slater’s historic run.
