California Actor Shane Ryan Gledhill Faces 24 Felony Charges for Alleged Child Sexual Abuse

An actor and producer from California, Shane Ryan Gledhill, is facing 24 felony charges related to allegations of child sexual abuse. This follows an investigation into accusations claiming he abused minors over several decades. Gledhill, 46, hailing from Lompoc, was initially arrested on August 3 and charged with 15 felonies, but that number has now increased to 24.

Investigators from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s department have been on this case for nearly five years. The investigation launched in November 2021 when a 17-year-old reported Gledhill’s suspicious and inappropriate actions towards her when she was just 15. This report led to the identification of nine survivors, all minors at the time of the alleged incidents.

In February 2022, authorities executed a search warrant at Gledhill’s Lompoc residence. During the search, thousands of digital files were seized for forensic analysis. The investigation suggested that Gledhill allegedly used online casting calls and film projects to reach out to minors with aspirations in acting.

Gledhill, whose credits include work on projects with notable actors like Shelley Duvall and Tom Arnold, is currently held in Santa Barbara County jail. His bail is set at $2 million. Authorities hope that releasing his booking photo will help identify further survivors or witnesses. This is because Gledhill allegedly used professional aliases, such as ‘Shane Ryan’ and ‘Shane Ryan-Reid’ in his interactions, which may prevent recognition of his legal name.

The felony charges against Gledhill encompass offenses like child molestation, forcible sexual assault, contacting a minor for sexual purposes, possession of child sexual abuse material, and disseminating harmful material to a minor. Gledhill was apprehended at his Lompoc home under an arrest warrant and booked in the Northern Branch Jail.

Detectives reported that Gledhill’s alleged misconduct might have lasted approximately 25 years. They believe that additional survivors or witnesses might be present not only along California’s Central Coast and Los Angeles area but also on the East Coast.

A preliminary hearing for Gledhill is slated for September 9 at the Santa Barbara County Superior Court’s Lompoc division.
