Speaking to a reporter from The New York Times, he asserted his ‘absolute claim of innocence.’ He described his guilty plea as influenced by ‘false promises and blatant disinformation’ and insisted that it ‘MUST be withdrawn.’

The case against Kohberger relied heavily on cellphone location data and digital evidence. He appeared at the Ada County Courthouse in Boise, Idaho, in July 2025 for sentencing.
