Bret Michaels will pause his touring schedule following doctors’ advice to allow more time for recovery from recent surgeries. After his comeback performance at The Bowl at Sugar Hill in Georgia, Michaels’ physicians evaluated him and suggested he stay off the road for the next several months.
“We will be pulling Bret off the road for the time being,” said Michaels’ doctors, Dr. Abby Borhan and Dr. Patel. “He wanted to attempt this show, but we feel there is a much-needed period of rest and slow recovery ahead, especially considering the heat and humidity during the summer months and its effect on his blood sugar levels.”
Michaels will miss his remaining 2026 tour dates, including The Mountain Music Festival, private events, and other scheduled performances. According to Michaels Entertainment Group, there is an anticipation of his return in a healthy and strong state.
In July, Michaels shared via Facebook his kidney stone removal procedure that could not pass naturally. Despite intense pain, he pushed through performances in Charleston, Grantville, and a special private event at Fairchild AFB in Spokane.
“On this #WisdomWednesday, the first thing I learned is complete gratitude for the frontline workers, doctors, and nurses who recently took care of me, as the kidney stone would not pass,” Michaels expressed.
Following the third concert, the pain led him to hospital admission where the necessary operation was completed. Michaels reassured his followers that the procedure was successful and hopes to resume touring soon.
Michaels, now 63, has openly shared his health challenges, including his childhood diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes. He has experienced serious health setbacks, like a brain hemorrhage in 2010 and a related heart procedure.
The rocker remains committed to diabetes awareness while maintaining a career in music, reality television, and his solo endeavors. He credits fans, family support, and his drive to perform for aiding his recovery efforts.
