The rumored wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce is attracting widespread attention, with no official confirmation yet. Despite this, millions of dollars are being placed on bets regarding the wedding. Prediction markets, commonly used for betting on sports and politics, are now seeing increased activity from Swift’s fans.

Jonathan Cohen from the American Institute for Boys and Men noted, “Prediction markets are filling this void in our society of turning every single thing into a gambling contract. When celebrities get married, people want to gamble on celebrities getting married.”

New York is currently leading the bets as the couple’s wedding location. There were recent confirmations of a filed application for an event at Madison Square Garden on July 3. Additionally, trucks loaded with equipment labeled “Garden Party” have been spotted there, prompting further speculation.

Kalshi reports that bets have already amounted to over $4.5 million regarding the superstar wedding. Jason Kelce, Travis Kelce’s brother, is the top choice for the role of groomsman at a likelihood of 94%. Other potential groomsmen include Swift’s brother, Austin Swift, and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. On the bridesmaid front, Swift’s childhood best friend, Abigail Anderson Berard, is currently leading at 85%.

This year has seen Kalshi’s entertainment markets grow significantly, with $600 million in trades, doubling last year’s figures. Moreover, the number of female traders has doubled, which Cohen comments on: “You sort of need to, like, have the exit velocity to break out of this sort of male space and maybe, just maybe, a Taylor Swift wedding, an event so clearly sort of in the female fan wheelhouse, could be the way to do that.”
