In a tragic incident, a fire erupted at a bar in northern Bangkok, resulting in the deaths of over two dozen individuals. The fire started late Sunday night and quickly spread from the entrance of the venue, causing panic and chaos among the patrons. Many attempted to escape by breaking windows, while others moved toward the back, where some found the exits inaccessible.

One of the people present that night was Atipat Wijan, a regular performer at the venue. He noticed a faint burning smell but didn’t act on it immediately due to frequent electrical issues at the bar. His band lost two members in the fire, including his girlfriend. Reflecting on the incident, Atipat expressed his shock, noting how rapidly events unfolded.

By Monday evening, Thai authorities confirmed that 28 people had died, with many more injured, some critically. There was no immediate information on the identities of the victims or the exact cause of the fire.

Investigators noted that the venue had used inappropriate materials for soundproofing, contributing to the rapid spread of the fire. This incident adds to Bangkok’s reputation as a popular yet potentially dangerous destination due to often inadequate safety measures.
