The Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens seemed destined for overtime in Rio de Janeiro when Brandon Aubrey’s field goal tied the game late in the fourth quarter. However, Lamar Jackson and the Ravens’ offense executed a different plan.
With only seven seconds left, Jackson connected with wide receiver Zay Flowers on a 27-yard pass. The Ravens quickly called a timeout with one second on the clock. Tyler Loop then successfully kicked a 56-yard field goal, securing the Ravens’ dramatic 34-31 win.
NFL analyst Rex Ryan criticized the Cowboys’ defensive performance after their lapse. “I can’t let Dallas off the hook like this,” Ryan commented. “They’re still the worst two-minute defense in the National Football League, by far… They don’t know how to win a game. They stink.”
On the offensive side, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott took responsibility for the loss, shifting focus away from the defense. “Frustrated,” Prescott shared on the team’s website. “Frustrated as hell. Excuse me. Embarrassed. We don’t call ourselves the best offense, GOTI, and get down to the one-yard line and don’t put it in. Yeah, it just sucks. Not a lot of words or full explanation of it.”
Prescott emphasized the need to finish games successfully. “Defense shouldn’t even have been in that position. Those guys were over there saying ‘it’s on us,’ absolutely not. We’ve got to put the game away, period.”
The Cowboys, now holding a 1-2 record, will meet the Houston Texans in Week 4.
