After years of defending Ken Paxton in court, Houston lawyer Dan Cogdell has shifted his support to Paxton’s opponent, James Talarico, in the Texas Senate race. Cogdell, who has represented Paxton since a 2015 securities fraud indictment, announced his backing for Talarico on June 8 during his Cogdell Law Uncensored podcast. He articulated his reasons for endorsing Talarico, stating Paxton has strayed from his mission to represent Texans.
I defended Ken Paxton for years in the impeachment trial and in state criminal cases. But in my view, respectfully, I think Ken has lost sight of his core mission, which is to represent the people of Texas.
Cogdell added that Talarico, a Texas state representative, values unity and can unite Democrats, independents, and Republicans. Talarico expressed gratitude for the endorsement, inviting voters from all political backgrounds to join his campaign.
