Jeanine John Taele was arrested following reports of suspicious behavior at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. The 38-year-old from Downey was caught allegedly documenting security plans shortly before President Donald Trump’s scheduled visit for a Republican National Committee fundraising event.

Investigators claim Taele was recording and photographing security activities. After searching his car, authorities found illegal firearms and ammunition, leading to his arrest on weapons-related charges. Captain Calvin Mah of the LASD Major Crimes Bureau remarked, “There’s a lot of what ifs at this point.” The department is conducting thorough background checks to uncover any potential links to other weapons caches.

A notebook believed to belong to Taele was also found, and detectives are examining his social media accounts. Despite online speculation about his gender, Mah confirmed to Newsweek that Taele is biologically male.

Taele is also linked to a robbery investigation by the El Segundo police. When booked, the arrest triggered an alert to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department due to an outstanding watch. It was noted that this robbery case could date back several months.

The investigation intensified following a search at Taele’s residence, revealing numerous firearms, ammunition, body armor, and notebooks with concerning statements, according to CNN.

Bill Essayli, First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, stated on X that the investigation is active. His office is collaborating with FBI Los Angeles and ATF in reviewing evidence. He promised more details will be made available when possible.

The incident coincides with increased security measures for Trump following past threats and attempts on his life. Despite recovered evidence, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department stated there’s currently no credible threat to the community.
