Amanda Kloots: Embracing New Love While Honoring Past Connections

Amanda Kloots is addressing a common misconception regarding dating after losing a spouse. She lost her husband, Broadway star Nick Cordero, to COVID-19 in 2020, and she challenges the idea that moving forward in love means leaving the past behind.

Widows and widowers often face judgment when they start new relationships, but Kloots insists love and grief coexist. In an interview with Fox News Digital, she explained, “The heart can hold a lot of love. Dating again doesn’t mean you love your lost person any less.”

Kloots, host of the “Good Grief” podcast, emphasizes that grief doesn’t just disappear; instead, it coexists with living. She shares how her heart makes space for both her late husband and new relationships, urging people to support widows navigating these challenges.

“New love doesn’t erase old love,” she explained. People dating widows or widowers should understand this from the beginning. “These people remain part of our lives, but there’s room for new love, marriage, and relationships.”

Nick Cordero passed away on July 5, 2020, after a difficult battle with COVID-19 that included mini-strokes, blood clots, and a leg amputation. Kloots publicly shared his fight, highlighting the personal struggle she faced as she adjusted to life as a widow.

She maintains that keeping the conversation about her late husband alive is essential. “If he were still alive, I’d talk about him all the time. I have a son I’m raising, and it’s important he knows who his dad was.” For Kloots, Cordero’s presence extends beyond memory, as she describes a continued spiritual connection since his death.

Kloots sees signs from Cordero, feeling his presence around her and their son Elvis. “I asked for signs from Nick, and he shows up. I feel he’s guiding us daily.”

This perspective shapes Kloots’ new chapter, including her role on Netflix’s “Let’s Marry Harry.” In the show, she aids reality star Harry Jowsey in understanding love and relationships, imparting lessons she learned from her experiences.

Kloots reflected on Jowsey’s romantic history and challenged him to rethink his perspective on love. She emphasized the importance of communication and love in relationships, sharing her insights with him before filming began.

Her podcast, “Good Grief with Amanda Kloots,” explores grief in various forms. It addresses death, divorce, lost careers, and more, reflecting on how people’s lives can change unexpectedly.

Even six years after Cordero’s passing, Kloots remains committed to carrying his memory while embracing her future. Her journey highlights that grief and love remain integral to her life.
