James Handy, an actor recognized for his performances in movies such as “Jumanji” and “Top Gun: Maverick”, was reportedly killed by his girlfriend’s son this week. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed the incident took place on Wednesday morning at a residence on the 19200 block of Erwin Street.
Emergency services were alerted by a 911 call, where the caller identified himself as the suspect, stating, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.” When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Handy, aged 81, unconscious in the front yard with a stab wound to his chest.

Handy was promptly transported to a local hospital, yet he was later pronounced deceased. The LAPD identified the alleged perpetrator as Michael Gledhill, a 44-year-old resident of Tarzana. Police reported that as officers arrived, Gledhill approached them and admitted to being the person they sought.

Gledhill resided at the home with his mother, who was Handy’s partner. He was arrested and taken to the Van Nuys Jail on a murder charge, with bail set at $2 million.
Throughout his career, James Handy accumulated almost 150 acting credits over approximately five decades. According to IMDb, besides his film credentials, he guest-starred on various television series, including The West Wing, 9-1-1, and NCIS: Los Angeles.
