A Cautionary Isolation from Mammals

In June, for three tumultuous days, I found myself a risk to every mammal around me. I retreated to a run-down motel room, echoing the escape of an outlaw from the 1930s. My view from the window was less than inspiring, as it overlooked a pile of debris.

Choosing an unusual sleeping position, I lay across the bottom of the bed, ensuring I stayed far from the wall. This precaution was to avoid any imaginary occupants on the other side, safeguarded from any potential threat I posed. Notably, I was compelled to maintain distance from pregnant women and children younger than ten.

This experience highlighted the strange necessity of isolation to protect vulnerable groups from possible harm. It demonstrated the unique measures one takes in unexpected situations.
