Memorial Scholarship Fund Initiated for Deceased Transgender Student

The mother of Murry Foust, a 22-year-old transgender college student who was found dead in Kentucky, has started a scholarship fund in their memory. Foust, a fine arts major at Northern Kentucky University (NKU), was discovered by an independent search team in Wilder, Kentucky. Jennifer Heise Foust, the student’s mother, expressed gratitude to the community for their support during the difficult investigation.

Jennifer wrote on Facebook, acknowledging those who contributed to the art scholarship fund in honor of her child. She thanked individuals regardless of whether they knew her child as Murry, Marie, or Lexi, highlighting the importance of keeping their passion for art alive. The Foust family intends to set up a nonprofit organization in Murry’s name.

Additionally, Jennifer expressed appreciation to friends, family, and supporters who have contributed over $7,000 through a meal train app. This generosity included gifting meals and sending gift cards. Though arrangements are still being made, Jennifer promised to provide updates to those concerned.

Murry Foust was expected to graduate on May 9 but was last seen heading to class on April 27 in Covington’s Latonia section. A friend noted on Facebook that Murry was in good spirits before disappearing suddenly. Covington police found no signs of foul play, leaving the cause and manner of death to be determined by the Campbell County Coroner’s Office.

In a statement, police offered condolences to the Foust family, hoping the discovery provides some answers. They praised public efforts, including groups like EquuSearch Midwest and Boone County Water Rescue, for aiding in the search.

Donations to the Foust family and earnings from Murry’s artwork will support other local artists. The proceeds will benefit events like one at the Cincinnati Art Museum on May 29 and a pottery fundraiser at Northern Kentucky University.

NKU faculty and classmates honored Murry with a moment of silence during the graduation ceremony on May 9. University officials expressed their heartbreak over the loss and thanked law enforcement for their involved search efforts. They encouraged struggling community members to seek support.
