Alain Prost, a renowned four-time Formula 1 champion, sustained injuries following a robbery at his home in Switzerland. The incident took place at Prost’s residence in Nyon, approximately 25 kilometers north of Geneva.
According to reports from Swiss outlet Blick, the robbery occurred around 8:30 a.m. on a Tuesday. Though authorities have not publicly confirmed the victims’ names, they have verified the robbery targeting a family.
“Several masked individuals entered the house. Once inside, they threatened the occupants and slightly injured one family member in the head, under circumstances that are still being investigated,” police stated, as reported by BBC Sport. “The perpetrators then forced another family member to open a safe before fleeing,” the statement continued.
Efforts are underway by Swiss and French police to apprehend those responsible for the crime.
Prost, whose Formula 1 career spanned from 1980 to 1993, drove for prominent teams such as McLaren, Renault, Ferrari, and Williams. He secured four World Drivers’ Championships titles in 1985, 1986, 1989, and 1993. These victories place him alongside Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen in career championships, trailing Juan Manuel Fangio with five, as well as Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher, each with seven.
During his years at McLaren in the late 1980s, Prost engaged in intense championship duels with his teammate and legendary F1 driver Ayrton Senna.
After his F1 retirement, Prost transitioned to television, managed his own team named Prost Grand Prix, and served as an advisor for the Alpine Formula 1 team. He departed from this advisory role in 2022.
