Diversity, equity, and inclusion form the core of Reuters’ journalistic ethos. Our commitment to these principles enhances our reporting quality and depth, providing unparalleled global insights. Our diverse team and equitable approach help us stand out in covering global conflicts and elections, thanks to the dedication and resilience of our reporters.

The 2023 Annual Diversity Report showcases our progress and recognizes ongoing challenges. Last year, we made significant steps in diversifying leadership, with increased representation from racially diverse backgrounds. The number of women leaders rose from 36% to 39%. However, barriers to progression and workplace equity remain areas for growth. Our commitment to these goals is steadfast, ensuring our newsroom mirrors the audiences we serve.

Commitment to Diversity Goals

In 2022, we set goals for 2023-2025 to enhance the diversity of our editorial leadership. These include:

  • Increasing racial and ethnic diversity in leadership by 20% by 2025
  • Doubling the number of Black leaders by 2025
  • Ensuring at least 45% of leadership roles are held by women by 2025
  • Filling 65% of roles with internal talent by 2025

This past year, Black leadership increased by 13%, and diversity among senior leaders rose by 11%. Roles filled internally climbed to 54%, up from 51%. While progress is evident, challenges persist.
