Cubs Fall to Brewers in a 5-0 Loss at Wrigley Field

The Chicago Cubs faced a tough defeat to the Milwaukee Brewers, losing 5-0 at Wrigley Field on May 20, 2026. The Cubs couldn’t manage to score against a strong Milwaukee team.

In the first inning, Cubs second baseman Nico Hoerner attempted to advance to third base but was tagged out by Brewers third baseman David Hamilton. Although initially ruled safe, the call was overturned.

Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong had a challenging game, returning to the dugout hitless after striking out in the bottom of the sixth inning.

David Hamilton excelled for the Brewers, going 3-for-4 during the night. He hit a triple into right field in the top of the seventh inning and successfully slid into third base.

Pitching performances varied. Cubs pitcher Ryan Rolison took to the mound in the seventh inning. Meanwhile, Brewers pitcher Kyle Harrison delivered a stellar performance, striking out 11 batters over seven innings.

Chicago Cubs pitcher Hoby Milner played in the sixth inning, and shortstop Dansby Swanson struck out in the fifth inning, contributing to the Cubs’ inability to catch up.

Late in the game, Cubs pitcher Daniel Palencia held his ground, striking out Brewers’ designated hitter Christian Yelich with the bases loaded in the ninth inning.

Cubs pitcher Edward Cabrera was on the mound in the earlier innings but could not halt the Brewers’ momentum.

In addition to the game action, Wrigley Field celebrated Mexican Heritage Night. Mariachi Herencia de Mexico performed the Star-Spangled Banner, marking the first time a Mariachi band played this anthem at the field. Singer Nicole Lillington was featured in the performance.
