Michael Douglas Reveals Past Affairs in New Memoir

Michael Douglas has unveiled personal secrets in his latest memoir. At age 82, the actor shares intimate details in his book, One Helluva Ride.

Douglas confessed to an affair nearly 20 years his junior with a co-star while filming Basic Instinct in 1992. Contrary to popular belief connecting him with Sharon Stone, Douglas reveals it was Jeanne Tripplehorn. “I fell very hard for Jeanne despite our nearly 20-year age difference,” he wrote. At the time, Douglas was still technically married to his first wife, Diandra Luker. She filed for divorce in 1995. He admitted he considered leaving his wife for Tripplehorn.

The affair continued through the film’s production. When filming ended, so did their relationship. Douglas commented, “I will always think of her as an amazing actress and a truly terrific woman.” Basic Instinct features Douglas as Nick Curran, a detective seduced by a suspect, played by Sharon Stone. Tripplehorn played police psychologist Dr. Beth Garner.

Douglas also disclosed an affair with Kathleen Turner during Romancing the Stone in 1984. Despite years of denial, Douglas confesses they fell for each other, and their work relationship grew into more. He says their connection was deep, characterized by mutual respect and attraction. While working on the film, Douglas and Luker were separated.

Douglas and Turner kept the relationship secret from both the public and their colleagues, sneaking away after filming ended each day. However, when Luker visited the set, they ended the affair. Turner understood they were still married. Douglas and Luker finalized their divorce in 2000 after 23 years.

Douglas remarried Catherine Zeta-Jones in November 2000. The couple has two children, Dylan and Carys.
