Prince William and Harry: A Rift Impacting Diana’s Legacy

Prince William is not expected to work with his brother, Prince Harry, on a potential new documentary about their late mother, Princess Diana. Piers Morgan stated that the brothers’ ongoing estrangement makes reconciliation unlikely. “They haven’t spoken for years,” he told Fox News Digital.

Morgan noted that William’s anger stems from Harry’s actions, including “trashing the royal family,” writing books, and creating Netflix documentaries and podcasts. These actions have impacted his relationship with family members, including his wife Catherine, Camilla, and King Charles.

Royal experts have shared with Fox News Digital that William and Harry have not communicated since Queen Elizabeth II’s death in 2022. Recently, The Times reported that Prince William declined offers to participate in or make documentaries about Diana to avoid further tensions with Harry.

“Harry took out the spray gun,” Morgan remarked. “Family members who are affected aren’t going to like it.” He expressed sympathy for William, describing him as “honorable and decent.”

William’s decision to refuse involvement in a documentary coincides with his belief that his tributes for Diana’s 20th anniversary fulfilled his public duties. Conversely, Prince Harry is considering projects to honor his mother’s legacy as the 30th anniversary of her death approaches, according to People magazine.

Although ideas are under review, no documentary is finalized. Harry has contacted individuals connected to his late mother to explore meaningful ways to honor her legacy, multiple sources informed the outlet.

Royal experts have pointed out that Harry has distanced himself from family since leaving royal duties in 2020. Despite this, Harry expressed a desire for reconciliation during a 2025 interview, emphasizing that life is short and he would welcome a reunion with his family.

Prince William and Harry previously collaborated on projects about Diana for her 20th anniversary in 2017. In a screening of the documentary “Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy,” William remarked, “We won’t speak as openly about her again.”

Both brothers were young when Diana passed away, with William being 15 and Harry 12. Harry has spoken publicly about the profound impact his mother’s death had on him. His 2023 memoir “Spare” highlighted his emotional turmoil during and after Diana’s burial, a moment he described as overwhelming.

This ongoing familial tension has reportedly left King Charles III troubled, as his sons remain estranged. Friends of William believe he will commemorate the 30th anniversary of Diana’s death privately, avoiding public involvement.
