Atlanta Dream Advances to WNBA Semifinals After Victory Over Washington Mystics

On September 30, 2026, at CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C., the Atlanta Dream secured their place in the WNBA semifinals by defeating the Washington Mystics 93-75. This marks Atlanta’s first advance to the semifinals since 2018. The game was part of the first-round series of the 2026 WNBA Playoffs.

Allisha Gray led the scoring for the Dream with 22 points, while Jordin Canada added a critical 13 of her 19 points in the fourth quarter. Canada’s performance included consecutive three-pointers and an impactful jumper from the free-throw line, contributing to an 89-70 lead with under three minutes to play.

Jordin Canada also contributed significantly with 11 assists and seven rebounds. Rhyne Howard and Angel Reese each scored 15 points, although Howard fouled out with 6:03 remaining. Naz Hillmon added 10 points.

For the Mystics, Sonia Citron scored 25 points. Kiki Iriafen made history for the franchise with a double-double of 15 points and 16 rebounds in the first half of a playoff game. Despite a late run in the first half, Washington was hindered by 11 turnovers.

In the third quarter, Washington narrowed the gap with a 14-2 run, pulling within 65-62. However, Atlanta responded with a 13-point streak, led by Canada, to increase their lead once more.

The Washington Mystics were making their first playoff appearance since their championship victory in 2019. Meanwhile, Atlanta will face New York in the semifinals, following New York’s historic sweep of Minnesota, which eliminated the No. 1 seed for the first time by a No. 8 seed in the league’s 30-year history.
