Michigan Senate Candidate Abdul El-Sayed Challenges Bill Maher Over Anti-Islam Comments

Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed expressed his willingness to appear on comedian Bill Maher’s show to challenge Maher on his anti-Islam remarks. Speaking with former NBC News host Chuck Todd, El-Sayed stated he wanted to be part of Maher’s audience and see Maher face a Muslim who disagrees with him.

During the “Noosphere” interview, El-Sayed explained that he would join either Maher or Joe Rogan’s shows. He considers their beliefs “terrible” but sees value in engaging with their audiences. He added his desire to see Maher get his “a– whooped” by a Muslim.

El-Sayed highlighted Maher’s history of making several negative comments about people like himself. He mentioned that, despite these remarks, Maher continues his show on Comedy Central.

El-Sayed said, “You know how many terrible things Bill Maher has said about people like me? Terrible, awful things.” He continued, “I’d go on his show to see him get his a– whooped by someone who prays like I do and to persuade his viewers that many of his comments are unviable.”

Bill Maher responded to El-Sayed’s statements, inviting him to appear on “Real Time.” Maher emphasized that his discussions on Islam are not personal or racial, merely critiques of ideas. He expressed his willingness for a dialogue, stating, “I hope we can make that happen.”

El-Sayed’s campaign and Maher’s representative did not provide comments to Fox News Digital.

El-Sayed has been vocal against his GOP opponent, Mike Rogers. He recently challenged Rogers to a game of tackle football. El-Sayed, asserting his youth and vigor, proposed the challenge as Rogers had avoided debates. He wrote on X, “Since you’re too afraid to debate me, how about you ‘hold me accountable’ on a football field instead? Tackle, no pads like we used to play when we were kids.”

When Fox News correspondent Alexis McAdams discussed this with Rogers, he dismissed the challenge as “unserious.” Rogers indicated, “He wants to thump his chest and show how macho he is.” Rogers stressed that the focus should be on real election issues rather than personal challenges.
