Nazareth vs. Providence
Providence’s senior Broden Mackert put forth a strong effort, rushing for 119 yards on 18 carries. He secured a 23-yard touchdown run as Providence tried to make a comeback in the fourth quarter. Despite the effort, Providence fell short due to four turnovers, resulting in a 17-7 defeat at Nazareth. This game was the first for Providence after the departure of coach Tyler Plantz.
Lincoln-Way East vs. Sandburg
Jayden Cawthon from Lincoln-Way East didn’t let an early mistake deter him. After initially running in the wrong direction on a kickoff, he capitalized on his next opportunity. He took a 54-yard kickoff return and set up his own touchdown catch. Lincoln-Way East overcame Sandburg with a 38-17 victory in the SouthWest Suburban Conference.
Batavia vs. St. Charles North
Batavia opened with a significant play as Michael Vander Luitgaren connected with Brennon Zeng for a 58-yard touchdown. After recovering an onside kick, Batavia quickly built a 36-0 lead in the second quarter. St. Charles North made a valiant effort to close the gap, led by senior quarterback Landon Conroy. However, Batavia held on for a 55-35 win.
West Aurora vs. Elgin
Stepping into the starting quarterback role, Tyler Fecht impressed for West Aurora, completing 7 of 8 passes for 105 yards and three touchdowns. West Aurora dominated Elgin in a 60-0 win in the Upstate Eight Conference.
Naperville North vs. Metea Valley
John Lyons of Naperville North showed his prowess on the football field after transitioning from baseball. He led his team with seven tackles and a sack. Naperville North secured a 41-3 victory over Metea Valley in the DuPage Valley Conference.
Wauconda vs. Grayslake North
Wauconda’s Colton Zak, in his fifth varsity game, impressed with a strong performance. Zak consistently disrupted Grayslake North’s offense and scored his first varsity touchdown. Wauconda triumphed 48-14 in the Northern Lake County Conference.
Andrean vs. Hobart
Sophomore Stetson Sullivan from Andrean made a significant impact with his smooth route running. Sullivan caught six passes for 79 yards, scoring three touchdowns in a 28-10 victory over Hobart in the Northwest Crossroads Conference.
