Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Decision to Change Schools for Their Children

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to move Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to a new school in the UK. This change came just two days after their initial start at the first school. Concerns from their security team about the logistics of the school run prompted the decision.

A spokesperson for the Sussexes explained that the move followed discussions with their security team. Heavy traffic and the distance from their new home contributed to safety concerns. Despite this shift, the parents remain appreciative of the staff and teachers at the original school and do not reflect this move as criticism of the care received there.

According to HELLO! Magazine, the children enjoyed their first days at the original school. However, logistical challenges for their small private security team raised doubts about the regular schooling commute. An incident disrupted the security procession, highlighting the need for a more manageable arrangement.

Archie and Lilibet have attended a trial session at another local school. Prince Harry was seen settling Lilibet into her new reception class. The Sussex family has been added to the parents’ WhatsApp groups, facilitating smoother communication.

Security Concerns in the UK

Security is a significant concern for the Sussexes since their return to the UK in late August. Since stepping down as working royals in 2020, the couple lost automatic police protection. Harry contested this in court, emphasizing the perceived risk during UK visits. Although his appeal failed in 2025, their renewed presence in the UK raises ongoing concerns about their security arrangements.

Meghan Markle has recently been granted a government-backed security review. The Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) is evaluating their current circumstances. Concurrently, Harry will undergo a separate risk assessment. These reviews consider day-to-day issues, including Archie’s and Lilibet’s travel to school.

Sussexes’ Move Back to the UK

The family’s return to the UK with Archie and Lilibet brought renewed attention. They seek a quieter, private life in Britain, having lived in the US for most of the children’s lives. This return also sparked interest in their relationship with the royal family and their current status.

King Charles III’s office recently stated that Harry and Meghan remain non-working royals. It confirmed that their HRH styles are on hold, and directed security questions to police authorities.
