Chicago police are currently investigating the tragic death of a 1-year-old girl in the West Ridge neighborhood. The child was discovered unresponsive with noticeable injuries on her lower body at a residence in the vicinity of 2600 West Rosemont Avenue. This incident occurred around 11:40 a.m., as per information from the Chicago police.

Following the distressing discovery, the child was rushed to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston. Unfortunately, medical professionals there pronounced her dead a short time later. The Cook County medical examiner’s office has identified the child as Maombi Joyeuse.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Sunday to determine the cause of death. In the interim, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services has stated that it is unable to provide additional information at this stage. However, the agency assured that it will collaborate with law enforcement to further investigate the circumstances surrounding the child’s death following the autopsy results.
