Tom Homan Criticizes Calls to Abolish ICE Amid Record Border Enforcement

Border czar Tom Homan criticizes progressive calls to abolish the agency as border enforcement actions reach historic levels. Homan emphasizes recent record-breaking arrests and deportations, noting that seventy percent of those detained are convicted criminals. He highlights ICE’s vital role in rescuing over 150,000 smuggled children, warning of the dangerous consequences of dismantling the agency.

Exclusive Report: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deported over 2,000 known or suspected terrorists from the U.S. since President Donald Trump took office in January 2025. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reports to Fox News Digital as the nation prepares to mark 25 years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

DHS highlights ICE’s role in arresting more than 2,150 known or suspected terrorists between Jan. 20, 2025, and Sept. 9, 2026, with 2,015 deportations.

Reflecting on the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin praises ICE’s brave men and women for their duty to protect the homeland and keep Americans safe.

Record Arrests Under Trump Administration: ICE agents, along with other federal agencies, experienced their biggest arrest month in agency history, spurred by the Trump administration’s immigration initiatives.

Recent cases involving alleged terrorists include:

  • In June, federal authorities arrested Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez, a Mexican national and suspected ringleader of an alleged plot targeting UFC Freedom 250 at the White House.
  • Felipe Linares De Oliveira Dell Aquilla, a Brazilian national and former commander of two foreign terrorist organizations, was arrested in North Carolina during a multi-agency operation. Authorities seized a handgun, cash, and electronic devices after a vehicle and foot pursuit.

ICE continues to demonstrate vigilance against criminal threats, with the arrest of over 10,000 suspected gang members, including four Venezuelan members of Tren de Aragua, who pleaded guilty to charges related to a Bronx shooting.

As the nation approaches the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Americans reflect on nearly 3,000 lives lost, prompting significant reforms in homeland security, including the creation of DHS and ICE. The upcoming anniversary serves as a tribute to the victims and first responders who faced danger, and highlights efforts over the past quarter-century to prevent another large-scale attack.
