Rescuers are actively searching for a woman who remains missing after a vehicle accident in the Riverdale neighborhood of Chicago. The incident occurred overnight when the vehicle lost control on the 13000 block of South Indiana Avenue and collided with a barrier before plunging into the Calumet River.
According to Chicago police, the accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. The vehicle carried five adults, all of whom managed to exit and reach safety on land. A man was rescued by the Chicago Police Department Marine Unit and was taken to UChicago Medicine. He is reported to be in serious condition.
As of 7 a.m., efforts to find the missing woman continued, with rescuers scouring the area. The Major Accidents Investigation Unit is currently handling the investigation into the accident.
