At Sunday Night’s Main Event, Trick Williams had a series of obstacles to overcome to win his second United States Championship.
The evening in Atlanta, Ga., began with Williams relying on his manager, Lil Yachty. Yachty needed to last five minutes in the ring with Baron Corbin to secure another shot at the championship for Williams. Despite being put through a table, Yachty met this challenge, paving the way for Williams.
With the match against Corbin set at State Farm Arena, the atmosphere was electric as Williams made his entrance. What followed was a fierce contest from the outset. Both competitors exchanged powerful blows, aiming to dominate the match.
Corbin appeared to be on track to retain his title, employing steel steps and ring posts as he tried to wear Williams down. As Corbin briefly rested, he grabbed the U.S. title, contemplating victory. Lil Yachty intervened, leading to a tug-of-war over the title belt. During this commotion, Corbin struck Williams with the belt and sought to secure a win. However, Williams demonstrated resilience by kicking out.
Williams turned the tide with his signature move, the Trick Shot, pinning Corbin to clinch the victory. This triumph marked Williams’ second reign as United States Champion. His first championship win was against Sami Zayn earlier at WrestleMania 42. He recently lost the title to Corbin at SummerSlam but seized the chance to reclaim it.
As Money in the Bank approaches, Williams must fend off several contenders eager for a shot at his title. Likely challengers include Carmelo Hayes, Johnny Gargano, and Ricky Saints.
